David played throughout his Art School five years and beyond and in 1972 Inverurie Locos 'A' F.C. won the Scottish Juvenile Cup. David was awarded an Art School Travelling Scholarship that year at the end of Postgraduate study in 1972. He travelled to Italy to study, taking Jane, in the summer of 1973.
